Investors inclined to invest in “fixed price” unit trust schemes

Bernama – Wednesday, April 1

KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 (Bernama) — Investors are inclined to invest in fixed-price unit trust schemes than in schemes whose prices fluctuate in tandem with market conditions, president and chief executive officer of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) Tan Sri Hamad Kama Piah said today.

He said investors, particularly Bumiputeras, were more keen to put their money in fixed-price units as they give more competitive returns.

“We try to promote schemes whose prices varied. However, in terms of size as I see it, the bulk of investments is in the fixed-price schemes,” he told reporters at a finance planning seminar.

Four of PNB’s eight unit trust schemes are fixed price while prices of the rest fluctuate according to market forces.

PNB unit trust schemes include Amanah Saham Nasional (ASN), ASN 2, ASN 3 Imbang, Amanah Saham Gemilang, Skim Amanah Saham Bumiputera, Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020, Amanah Saham Malaysia and Amanah Saham Didik.

PNB is the country’s biggest fund manager.
