Swiss franc falls after comments by SNB’s Roth

Reuters – Thursday, May 7

NEW YORK, May 6 – The Swiss franc fell against the dollar and the euro on Wednesday after Swiss National Bank Chairman Jean-Pierre Roth said the bank will resolutely fight a rise in the Swiss franc to keep the economy out of deflation.

The dollar last traded up 0.1 percent at 1.1340 francs <CHF=>, compared with 1.1316 before Roth’s comments.

The euro rose to a session high of 1.5111 francs and was last little changed at 1.5087 francs. <EURCHF=>.
